Improving organization and infrastructure
As an umbrella organization for medical research networks, the TMF is responsible for improving the organization and infrastructure of medical research in networked structures. It supports researchers at the various locations in jointly identifying and solving problems of an organizational, legal and technical nature that are often not associated with the particular clinical problem or research focus.
The number and range of topics of TMF member networks increased dramatically over the last few years. Members include medical competence networks, networks dealing with rare diseases, psychotherapy networks, zoonosis networks, coordination centers for clinical trials, the German National Genome Research Network (NGFN), Fraunhofer institutes as well as a patient organization in the form of the German Cystic Fibrosis Institute.
Community approach: A large proportion of the TMF’s work takes place in the working groups and forums.
Projects in the TMF: The TMF makes use of the diversity of the research networks’ specialist areas and expertise in order to coordinate its results on a broad basis in the specialist areas of medicine and medical informatics and biometrics.
TMF products and services include the preparation of expert opinions, generic concepts, IT applications, as well as training and consultation services of the working groups, also in the form of individual consultation. The TMF also assists medical research networks with their public relations.
