The Association
TMF Profile
The TMF is organized as a registered association in which the General Assembly and the Board of Directors elected from among its members play a central role in strategic decisions. The Board of Directors is supported by the Advisory Board and the Council of Sponsors in an advisory capacity. It has appointed a management team to handle day-to-day tasks, which the office manages. The office staff monitors the scientific priorities and organizes the work of the committees.
Governance
The TMF is a non-profit registered association and sees itself as a democratically constituted exchange and coordination platform for the planning, establishment, and operation of research data infrastructures in medicine. The association is managed by a member board of nine, which is responsible for all strategic decisions and their implementation. The board is assisted by a managing director for operational implementation. The General Assembly elects the Board of Directors and is accountable to it.
In addition, the TMF statutes envision that the funding organizations that support the TMF through the financing of membership fees monitor the work of the TMF. The Executive Board delegates the specific content-related work to other TMF committees, in particular the workgroups.
Since the association's founding in 2003, the TMF Executive Board has put great emphasis on establishing clear and transparent governance procedures for all committees and the administrative office. The central document is the statutes, which define the basic working methods of the TMF. The joint work details are regulated by procedure rules for all committees.
