The TMF welcomes the draft of the E-Health Law adopted today by the Federal Cabinet. "We are very pleased that health research is now included for the first time in the IT planning of the healthcare system. It is all the more important now to ensure comprehensive coordination and cooperation on interoperability and data protection issues in both care and research and to provide suitable accompanying structures for this," says Sebastian C. Semler, Managing Director of the TMF.

The TMF considers interoperability to be insufficiently addressed in the current version of the law. In a joint statement, various organizations from research and healthcare, users, and industry presented proposals on this issue in February 2015.
