"Technology and Methods Platform for Networked Medical Research" – that is the future expansion of the acronym TMF, which has been established for many years. "The previous designation 'Telematics Platform' was misleading and no longer contemporary; it did not reflect the actual spectrum of topics and tasks of the TMF," explained Professor Dr. Ulrich R. Fölsch, the long-standing chairman of the TMF. The TMF Members' Assembly adopted the new name along with a revision of the statutes on April 16, 2010, during the TMF Annual Congress in Munich.

The TMF board was reconfirmed by the Members' Assembly for another two years. Newly elected to the board was Prof. Dr. Marcella Rietschel (Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim) as the representative of NGFN transfer. She succeeds Prof. Dr. Hans-Ulrich Prokosch (University Hospital Erlangen / Epidermolysis Bullosa Network), who wanted to step down from the board due to time constraints. The chairman thanked Prof. Prokosch during the Members' Assembly for his commitment to the board in recent years. Prokosch will remain connected to the TMF through activities in workgroups and projects.
The affairs of the association continue to be managed by Prof. Dr. Ulrich R. Fölsch as chairman, and Prof. Dr. Michael Krawczak (University of Kiel / NGFN plus) and Dr. Dr. Michael Kiehntopf (University of Jena / PROGRESS Consortium) as deputies. "We consider continuity very important in the current phase of the TMF’s development," emphasized Fölsch during the inaugural board meeting on May 3, 2010, in Berlin. "Once the path to 'TMF 3.0,' as we call it, is prepared and based on a solid foundation, we look forward to changes and additions in the personnel constellations of the board."
In time for the annual congress and members' assembly, the latest annual report of the TMF was also published, presenting the activities and products of the TMF for networked medical research, tracing the development of the TMF, and showing that many individuals support the collaborative work on overarching solutions. The annual report is thus also a thank you from the TMF for the great commitment of its members.
