Yesterday evening, TMF launched its new network, “Women in Networked Medical Research” (FMF). The kick-off meeting quickly highlighted the strong need for exchange, networking and mutual support.

Through brief personal reflections, participants shared their career paths in research, clinical practice and research coordination. Topics included work-life balance and structural barriers, visibility and mentoring, as well as how women can support one another and drive change together.

The subsequent barcamp turned ideas into action: participants gathered ideas and identified priorities for the FMF work programme for 2027. Topics ranged from funding, professional development and training to methodological and subject-specific issues, networking, gender equality and work-life balance.

A successful start and, above all, the beginning of a network that will thrive on the experiences, ideas and commitment of its members.

Many thanks to everyone who shared their perspectives and helped shape this launch. We look forward to seeing what grows from it!
