Health apps in the hands of patients, telemedicine services for chronically ill individuals, or the use of mobile applications in health services research - these are aspects of the focal theme "Health Apps - New Perspectives for eHealth and Telemedicine" under which this year's TELEMED takes place on June 28th and 29th, 2012 in Berlin. High-ranking representatives from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG), as well as from gematik, are expected to attend the opening event of TELEMED 2012.
On June 28, 2012, starting at 10:30 a.m., Dr. Matthias von Schwanenflügel, Subdivision Head at BMG, will present the impulses originating from Germany for the digital development of patient care.
Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Arno Elmer, Managing Director of gematik—Society for Telematic Applications of the Health Card mbH, will report on the progress and developments in establishing the eHealth infrastructure in Germany—particularly against the background of the recent resolution of the 115th German Medical Assembly, which declared the political project "Electronic Health Card" (eGK) a failure.
In this context, the Parliamentary State Secretary of BMBF, Dr. Helge Braun, focuses on the perspectives and hurdles of health research.
Over the course of two days, about 30 contributions from universities, non-university research institutions, and industry provide a colorful picture of the current developments in eHealth and telemedicine. The congress ends on June 29, 2012, with the presentation of the TELEMED Award starting at 2:45 p.m.
