Translation for Health – From Basic Research to Improved Care and Prevention

The 2019 TMF Annual Congress - from March 20 to 21 in Bonn.
Extensive resources are invested, and much time passes before a new medical diagnostic or therapeutic procedure makes its way from the laboratory to broad application. For new medications, it is often ten to 15 years. Translational research aims to accelerate this process so patients can benefit more quickly from new insights from preclinical research. Translation is a complex process that presents scientists with significant challenges in practice. It requires interdisciplinary thinking and action at the interfaces between research, clinic, and care.
As part of the 11th TMF Annual Congress, which will take place from March 20-21, 2019, in Bonn, scientists from various disciplines will discuss approaches and prerequisites for successful translational research in Germany. For example, digital tools and instruments for patient-centered research, innovative care models for cross-sectoral cooperation, and ethical and data protection aspects of translation will be presented and discussed. The congress is organized by the Technology and Methods Platform for Networked Medical Research (TMF) in cooperation with the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE).
