Thanks to the development of high-throughput procedures for genotyping, inconceivably large amounts of data are available from genome research projects in past years. "I feel sure that only a fraction of the scientific questions for which this data was generated have been answered. A large number of the questions that can be answered have probably not even been asked yet." This was the assessment given by Prof. Dr. Michael Krawczak (University of Kiel) as part of the information event on the quality management of genotyping data, which took place in Berlin on June 21, 2010. During the event, which was attended by around 50 molecular geneticists and bio information specialists from across Germany, the results of a project were presented which was sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) from 2008 to 2010 within the BMBF call on the development of instruments and methods for patient oriented medical research.
