Zoonoses – a Global Challenge

The threat to human and animal health posed by zoonoses is highly relevant. Infectious diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites, or prions are mutually transmitted from animals to humans and represent a significant health hazard. To combat them, well-founded interdisciplinary research is essential. At the National Symposium for Zoonosis Research in Berlin, 350 scientists from Germany and Europe are expected to engage in cross-disciplinary exchange on the latest developments in zoonosis research.
Whether it's antibiotic resistance at the interface between human and veterinary medicine or emerging zoonoses such as arboviruses, the scientific challenges can only be addressed through interdisciplinary collaboration among experts in zoonosis research. At the 2018 Zoonosis Symposium, scientists from the National Research Platform for Zoonoses, as well as newly established zoonosis consortia and junior research groups, will present their research findings.
