The TMF’s Workgroup Medical Technology demonstrates how medical research consortia develop medical products under current regulatory conditions with a workshop at Medica Media.

Today, those who develop technology-supported diagnostic and therapeutic procedures face complex and intricate requirements from the Medical Devices Act. This now also concerns the specific conditions of clinical studies, which are intended to demonstrate the medical benefit of medical products – this also in the context of clinical evaluations or clinical trials, which are already a fixed part of the approval process.

With a workshop at Medica Media, the TMF’s Workgroup Medical Technology shows how medical technology research consortia develop medical products under these conditions. This includes, among other things, the socio-economic evaluation of medical products and the medical benefit evaluation within the framework of clinical studies. The integrated development of a laparoscopy assistance system from the operating room to market introduction is traced as a practical example.
