Dr. Esther Schmidt (DKFZ) has been drawn as the winner of the 1st prize for an experience report on participating in a TMF tutorial on data protection, which was published as a training offering in the Health Research ToolPool portal. The second and third prizes go to Matthias Löbe for an experience report on the use of the ARX Data Anonymization Tool product in the context of medical informatics teaching at the University of Leipzig and to Sandra Pasewald for an experience report on the use of the MOSAIC products E-Pix, gICS, and gPAS in the NAKO Health Study.
Prof. Dr. Rainer Röhrig (University of Oldenburg and TMF Board Member) and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Sax (University Medical Center Göttingen and Speaker of the TMF Workgroup IT Infrastructure and Quality Management) drew the winners in a workshop presenting the Health Research ToolPool as part of the 62nd Annual Meeting of the GMDS in Oldenburg. They were assisted by independent "lottery hostess" Anna Dirks (student at the University of Oldenburg and part of the congress team of the GMDS 2017).
The portal provides support for the planning and establishment of complex IT infrastructures in medical research. The raffle aims to promote interaction and exchange of experiences among users of tools and services. At the raffle, an Apple iPad, a Garmin Smart Watch, and a Samsonite laptop backpack were up for grabs. The prizes were provided by the suppliers secuTrial, Kairos, and Clinical Guideline Services, whose products are also listed in the ToolPool.
Health Research ToolPool: A Portal by Researchers for Researchers
The Health Research ToolPool portal provides information on topics such as research data management, data protection, registries, cohorts, and mobile IT tools for medical research. It also brings together IT tools and services developed in the TMF, other academic institutions, and commercial providers. The portal is based on the content of the TMF's IT report, which has been published annually since 2013.
The selection of products is based on a criteria catalog developed within the TMF Workgroup IT Infrastructure and Quality Management. The workgroup also checks the currency and strategic development of the portal, which was developed by the TMF with the involvement of users and is operated by them.
